Film installations: Plasma systems for the coil coating process
Effective and environmentally friendly cleaning
The coil coating process is employed to provide metal strip with optimum protection against corrosion, to achieve a decorative appearance and to simplify subsequent production processes. For surface coating in coil coating it is imperative that the aluminium be free of roller oils so that durable adhesion of the surface coating is ensured. Surface pretreatment with Openair® plasma technology is not only a highly efficient but also an extremely environmentally friendly process because it completely replaces the large quantities of chemicals otherwise needed for this type of cleaning.

Precoating of large surface areas
A typical example of surface activation with plasma is the production of precoated sheet metal for the industrial production of household appliances (white goods) or, alternatively, for the motor car construction industry. The material is precoated over its entire surface area in a rolling mill so that it can be further processed directly in the production line in question.
