Topic: Plasma treatment of plastic caps for secure ink bonding. Plasma to integrate in pad printing machines. Color bonding on bottle caps.
Secure ink bonding on plastic caps thanks to plasma pretreatment
on plastic bottles must be absolutely airtight but they should also
be easy to open. To ensure these qualities, silicone-modified
compounds are used for these caps.
Plasma treatment of plastic caps for secure ink bonding
materials have low surface tension, however, so printing on them
solvent-free food-safe inks) can only be accomplished after plasma
treatment. For that reason, Openair® Plasma has been used by leading
manufacturers for years to increase surface tension on bottle caps.
The plasma jets are integrated directly into modern pad printing
machines that operate at high speeds.
Tampoprint AG was entrusted with the assignment of developing and building fully-automated pad printing for 5-color printing (screen illustration printing) on mint boxes, with an hourly output of 1800 units.
