Topic: Plasma pretreatment process printing, printing onto polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyamide (PA), polycarbonate (PC), glass and metal, surfaces

Processes: High levels of quality in common printing processes due to plasma pretreatment

Plasma pretreatment for all common printing processes

Openair® plasma technology is employed in all common printing processes such as tampon printing (intaglio), screen printing and offset printing. Plasma pretreatment enables the adhesion of poorly adhesive aqueous printing inks and secure and durable adhesion on difficult surfaces such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyamide (PA), polycarbonate (PC), glass and metals. On account of the high effectiveness of the technique it is possible to increase machine speeds. When printing onto tubs or tubes it is even possible, for example, to increase the processing speed by up to one third.

Qualitative improvement of the entire printed image

Openair® plasma pretreatment as an additional step prior to printing lends increased ageing resistance to printing inks containing solvents. High handling resistance and weathering resistance, excellent colour brilliance and more precise ink transfer are guaranteed. In particular, in contrast with the corona process, heat-sensitive surfaces are pretreated without damage due to the uniform action of the atmospheric-pressure plasma.
