Cleared for take-off with plasma - Surface technology in aeronautical radio equipment
The aviation industry demands the highest safety standards. Specialist magazine PRODUCTRONIC (5-6/2013) rexplains why Rohde & Schwarz , the world’s leading manufacturer of airborne communication systems, pretreats assembled circuit boards with Openair® plasma before applying a conformal coating.
Atmospheric Plasma Treatment in Circuit Board Manufacture
The best possible adhesion of conductive inks applied by the screen printing process to the surfaces of sensor circuit boards is essential for manufacturers. The American PCB Magazine (Painted Circuit Boards, 8/2012) reports on how Openair® plasma tripled the throughput and reduced adhesion problems to zero.
The sensor manufacturer Novotechnik regards the change from the low-pressure plasma chamber to the use of the integrated Openair® technology as a milestone in the development of the company’s sensor production. The technical journal SENSOR-MAGAZIN (3/11) covers the story.
The American electronics magazine US-TECH reports in its September 2010 issue on how the Openair® plasma treatment process is used in the electronics industry to process parts and circuits during production and/or assembly.
The sensor manufacturer Novotechnik (Siedle Group) has successfully used Openair® plasma for some years now. The throughput has tripled thanks to this system. Adhesion problems have been reduced to zero. The journal for surface technology JOT (4/2010) gives a report.
Sensor Technology - Atmospheric plasma treatment of circuit boards
The international sensor manufacturer Novotechnik calls the employment of the integrated Openair technology “a milestone” in the further development of their sensor production. The technical journal PRODUCTRONIC (11/2009) reports about the application in detail.
"Give Leaks No Chance" - Plasma-pre-treatment protects electronics
Electronic circuits and components have to be reliably encapsulated to protect them against dust and moisture. Many electronics companies now use a surface-pre-treatment technology that up until now was only found in the automotive sector: Openair-Plasma. The German professional journal KUNSTSTOFFE (Plastics) reports on this topic in detail in its issue 5/2007.
“In-line casting with integrated plasma treatment” is the subject of the joint report by Scheugenpflug AG and Plasmatreat GmbH which appeared in issue 4/2007 of the journal ADHÄSION. For the perfect casting of electronic components, fully automated casting installations are equipped with an atmospheric pressure plasma unit for pretreating the component housings. This unit provides microscopically fine precleaning and activation of the surfaces of the workpieces.
