Schmitz Cargobull: Refrigerated-truck construction with „Openair“ plasma

We became aware of Plasmatreat's innovative technology first-time at the international technical meeting Swiss Bonding five years ago. After a thorough test phase, in 2003 the time had come:The first „Openair“ plasma application for the structural bonding of superstructures for refrigerated trucks was realized at Schmitz Cargobull's.

For us it was important to replace the so far manual surface cleaning by an industrial process. Of no smaller importance though, to completely eliminate the possible health hazard – consisting because of the use of organic solvents - for the employees in that area. We attained both: due to their special characteristics, the Plasmatreat systems could smoothly be integrated into our adhesive-application process, and through substitution of the use of solvents, a higher satisfaction of our employees could be obtained. Only one year later, we equipped another bonding station with plasma systems.

But all technical „new territories“ require learning processes on the part of the users as well as supporting accompaniment of the developers. Plasmatreat had promised us qualified technological support in case of a contract of purchase. This word – decisive for the conclusion of the contract - was realized by the staff members of Plasmatreat to our greatest satisfaction from the first day of cooperation until today.

Two years of „Openair“ plasma at Schmitz Cargobull's. Being responsible for the domains quality management and application technology, I can say today: „The results are first-rate!“
