Test inks: Surface determination by Plasmatreat test inks
Quality assurance in plasma pretreatment
In ongoing processes the measurement of surface tension with Plasmatreat test inks is an outstanding aid to quality assurance during production*. The key requirement is always that the adhesive or printing ink and state of the surface be matched to one another in optimum fashion.

| Plasmatreat test inks are available in sets of different sizes |
Test ink sets can be put together in various Dyne sizes |
Plasmatreat test inks are supplied in three different series:
Series A – especially suitable for warmer surfaces
Brief description: Longer read-off time, not suitable for PVC surfaces, toxic, produced in accordance with DIN 53 364, suppliable from 30 - 56 mN/m (in steps of two units)
Series B – suitable for all common surfaces
Brief description: Some are toxic (depending on value of surface tension), produced in accordance with DIN 53 364, suppliable from 28 - 72 mN/m (in steps of two units)
Series C – suitable for all common surfaces
Brief description : Non-toxic, not harmful to health, produced on the basis of DIN 53 364, suppliable from 28 - 72 mN/m (in steps of two units)
* The maximum error of measurement is 2 mN/m. In test series with multiple measurements error tolerances fall accordingly. The measured values obtained are relative values and comparable with other test methods only to a limited degree.
Alternative: Portable Contact Angle Analyser PGX
The PGX is a compact instrument that measures wetting and absorption on virtually any size or shape surface without the need to cut sample strips required by other contact angle testers.
|
This enables the surface testing of almost any 3- dimensional product including: • a table top |
| Portable Contact Angle |
The PGX provides automated testing.Simply place the instrument on top of your specimen and press a button. The internal pump delivers a precise droplet, which is automatically delivered on the test surface. The built-in camera captures a video sequence of the liquid droplet and results are presented as static contact angle or dynamic wetting and liquid penetration as a function of time.
These results are invaluable for evaluating and controlling a wide range of processes including adhesion, plasma treatment, absorption, surface contamination, surface sizing, printability and wettability.
