CHINAPLAS 2016 – 20 years of Plasmatreat technology

CHINAPLAS, Asia's leading plastics tradeshow, opened its doors at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on the 25 April to around 3300 exhibitors from 40 countries and some 150,000 visitors from all over the world. In the German Pavilion alone, 150 exhibitors presented their wares under the 'Made in Germany' label. Plasmatreat chose this year to illustrate its technology's 20-year evolutionary development.

Plasma Control Unit
Twenty years of technological development at Plasmatreat: The first plasma generator (right) and the latest PCU plasma control system (left)

In a retrospective display looking back at last year's anniversary celebrations, visitors were able to learn about the technological developments that had taken place at Plasmatreat over the last 20 years: From the first type FG1001 plasma generator developed in the mid-nineties, which was still analog at that time, to the new PCU (Plasma Control Unit), a digital system which enables various plasma parameters such as rotational speed, air pressure and plasma strength to be controlled individually.

Christian Buske, CEO and President of the Plasmatreat Group, Rainer Schobert, Business Development Manager Electronic and Medical and Head of Marketing Christine Hennes had travelled specially from Germany and Managing Director Thomas Markert from Singapore to support Calvin Chen and his team with the special presentations.

Plasma live: The monitor shows video clips of plasma-based industrial applications. Whilst the video is running, a six-axis robot controls a rotary nozzle which simulates the application currently being demonstrated on the big screen using real plasma.

The TreatScreen live installation proved a real hit with visitors: To illustrate successful applications of Openair® plasma in a variety of different industries, the installation features a large flat screen which shows video clips of various industrial applications – from the untreated plastic to the plasma treatment during production and finally to the finished part. What makes this presentation special is that whilst the video is running, a six-axis robot controls a type RD1004 rotary nozzle which simulates the application currently being demonstrated on the big screen using real plasma.

Calvin Chen was very satisfied with the company's performance at Chinaplas 2016: "Feedback from industry representatives was particularly positive this year and visitor numbers were up by 30% compared with last year."
