News: Team Plasmatreat - RTS Electronic - blown away by the wind at Lake Neusiedl?

5 qualifications for the world championship in Aalborg - plus victories and second places

On Sunday, April 21st, after the Lake Neusiedl Cycling Marathon, a race of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, Team Plasmatreat-RTS Electronic qualified 5 times for the Gran Fondo World Championships. In addition, the team members won the time trial and the subsequent marathon race.

Team manager David Buske could not be prouder of his athletes, as it was the newly formed women's team that left a lasting impression at this race. Svea Lüdorff had already impressed in the road bike time trial on Saturday. As a passionate triathlete, road cycling is one of her specialties, but this challenging 26km course with a steep ramp at the start was not a typical course for Svea Lüdorff. In the end, she still managed to win her age group and the women's overall, which qualifies her for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

But it was not only Svea Lüdorff who made the butterflies fly. Daniel Pechtel and Patrick Lechner put two cycling legends in their place in the pair time trial, finishing third.

Thomas Gschnitzer, 2nd in his age group, and Martin Ludwiczek, winner in his age group, also showed their unique class on the bike. Even Daniela Gass, certainly not a time trialist, rode to an excellent 3rd place in the time trial. This Daniela Gass would be one of the main protagonists of the marathon race on Sunday. But before that, Svea Lüdorff finished fourth overall in her third Gran Fondo race. In the team car, team boss David Buske, who was on board again this time, was completely electrified by the performance of the entire team and his women's team.

Svea Lüdorff rode a very composed race at the front of the field with incredible support from Thomas Gschnitzer and Daniel Pechtl. At the finish line she was only a few hundredths off the podium, but there was still time to celebrate after this performance, which once again means qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

Experience is priceless and comes with age! Riders like this were needed in the difficult conditions on Sunday. Sunny, blue skies, but temperatures of around 5 degrees in the morning and a maximum of 9 degrees at the finish. To make things even more difficult for the riders, the wind was gusting up to 50km/h. Unfortunately, the race was also marred by a large number of crashes. Even the lead group was not spared. Even the leading rider was taken out in a roundabout. After about 70 kilometers there was a very bad crash. Team manager David Buske commented: "I just saw the rider or riders lying on the ground, it didn't look good. I was completely shocked and couldn't get the images out of my head for a long time. I was just glad that I had my riders in sight and that nothing happened.

But back to the wind and the edge. Daniela Gass was convincing here and not only. In the end, Daniela was able to collect the qualifying jersey for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships on the top of the podium. A great and smart race from the former professional rider who, as she said, was able to sprint to the finish.

Once again, the team achieved the most important result of the weekend for team manager David Buske: 2nd place in the mixed team classification.

Qualified for the World Championships:
Svea Lüdorff (time trial and Gran Fondo)
Daniela Gass, Martin Ludwiczek, Daniel Pechtl (Gran Fondo)

Team Manager David Buske says: "I am extremely proud of the whole team and very grateful that our partners and sponsors are allowing us to experience the exciting world of cycling for another season.
